Tuscany Bordignon
Undergraduate Reasearcher (Junior in Biochemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
Tuscany is a undergraduate student at the University of Illinois majoring in Biochemistry and minoring Chemistry. She hopes to pursue a PhD.
Current Research
Tuscany joined the Kalsotra Lab in the fall of 2025. Her primary research interest focuses on liver regeneration in adult mice to understand the mechanism of regeneration by studying splicing of mRNA. This will serve to address issues seen in many liver diseases. Tuscany has always been interested in biochemical systems and how they affect disease and drug development. Tuscany is interested in learning new techniques, and refining her skills to assist in her future goals of pursuing a PhD. She also plans to write a senior thesis in the future.
Outside the lab
In her free-time, Tuscany enjoys playing guitar, listening to music, photography and hanging out with friends. Tuscany is also a part of Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity where she served as professional chair and vice president. Through this organization she has helped organize, plan and execute many beneficial events for the fraternity.
